Terms of Use
Effective 8 October 2026
The rules of the house.
These terms apply to the iOS game Vale & Daughter (“the app”), made by Pietro Messineo (“we”, “us”). By downloading or using the app you agree to them, together with Apple's Licensed Application End User License Agreement (the “Standard EULA”). If the two ever disagree, the Standard EULA prevails.
1. Your licence
We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use the app on Apple devices you own or control, as permitted by the App Store's Usage Rules. You may not copy, modify, reverse-engineer, resell or redistribute the app or its content, except as the law expressly allows.
2. The purchase
- The first chapter (The Workshop) and safes from friends are free.
- One optional in-app purchase, “The rest of the estate”, unlocks the remaining chapters, master mode and the vault for good. It's a one-time payment, not a subscription.
- Payment, refunds and restoring purchases are handled by Apple under the App Store's terms. Use Settings → Restore purchase on a new device.
- Prices are shown in the App Store before you buy and may differ between countries.
3. Safes for friends
You can lock a safe for someone and leave a short note inside. You're responsible for what you write and to whom you send it. Don't use notes to harass anyone, or to share anything unlawful, hateful or private about someone else. Anyone with a link can open its safe.
4. Play with care
The game asks you to open and close your iPhone Duo's hinge, or to tilt your iPhone. Move it gently. The game rewards slowness, and nothing in it needs force. Take breaks, and play somewhere you won't drop your phone. We aren't responsible for damage to your device from rough handling.
5. Our content
The game, its story, letters, characters, artwork, sounds and code are © 2026 Pietro Messineo. All rights reserved. Ottilie Vale, her family and every other person in the story are fictional; any resemblance to real people or companies is coincidental. “iPhone” and “App Store” are trademarks of Apple Inc.
6. No warranty, limited liability
The app is provided “as is”. To the extent the law allows, we make no warranties beyond those in the Standard EULA, and we aren't liable for indirect or consequential losses arising from your use of the app. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have as a consumer that cannot legally be limited.
7. Changes
We may update these terms when the app changes. The date above shows the latest version. If you keep using the app after a change, you accept the new terms.
